William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet, and actor who is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the English language and one of the most influential figures in world literature. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 and was the eldest son of John Shakespeare, a successful glover and alderman, and Mary Arden, the daughter of a wealthy landowning farmer.

Shakespeare attended the local grammar school where he received a basic education in Latin and classical literature. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, a local woman who was eight years his senior, and they went on to have three children.

In the late 1580s, Shakespeare moved to London and began working as an actor and playwright. He quickly gained success as a writer and his plays were performed at the Globe Theatre and other venues in London. Some of his most famous works include “Hamlet”, “Macbeth”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Julius Caesar”, “The Merchant of Venice”, “Antony and Cleopatra” and “Othello”..

In addition to his plays, Shakespeare also wrote many sonnets and poems, and his works continue to be studied and performed around the world to this day. He died in 1616 at the age of 52 and was buried in the chancel of Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Socrates

Socrates was a Greek philosopher who is considered one of the most influential figures in Western philosophy. He was born in Athens in 469 BCE and lived during a period of great cultural and intellectual flourishing in Greece.

Socrates did not leave behind any written works of his own, but his ideas and teachings were recorded by his students, most notably by Plato. Socrates was known for his unique method of questioning and his commitment to seeking truth and knowledge. He believed that wisdom could only be attained through questioning and self-reflection, and he famously stated, “I know that I am intelligent, because I know that I know nothing.”

Socrates was a controversial figure in Athens and was often seen as a threat to the established social order. In 399 BCE, he was charged with impiety and corrupting the youth and was sentenced to death by drinking hemlock.

Despite his untimely death, Socrates’ teachings and philosophy have had a profound and lasting impact on Western thought. His emphasis on questioning and critical thinking has influenced fields such as ethics, logic, and political philosophy, and his legacy continues to be studied and debated by scholars and thinkers around the world.

Mother teresa

(1910 – 1997)

Mother Teresa, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, was an Albanian-Indian Catholic nun and missionary who devoted her life to helping the poor and sick. She was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910 and joined the Sisters of Loreto at the age of 18.

In 1948, Mother Teresa received a calling from God to leave the convent and work among the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta, India. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation dedicated to serving the sick, the poor, and the dying.

Mother Teresa’s work gained international recognition, and she became known as a symbol of compassion and selflessness. She received numerous awards and honors, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

Throughout life, Mother Teresa worked tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of the poor and sick, and she established numerous homes and clinics around the world. She passed away in Calcutta in 1997 at the age of 87, but her legacy continues to inspire millions of people around the world to this day.
